Six checks that separate a real exporter from a broker with a nice website. Do all six before the deposit — they take one afternoon and protect the whole order.
1. Check The Business Licence, Not The Website
Ask for the business licence (营业执照) and the unified social credit code on it. Chinese company registrations can be checked on the national public register (gsxt.gov.cn). The company name on the licence must be the same name on the contract, the proforma invoice and — critically — the bank account.
A trading company is not a problem. A trading company that pretends to be a factory is.
2. Video Call At The Yard On A Working Day
Ask for a live video call, not a recorded tour, and ask them to walk to a specific truck and read the chassis plate. Anyone with real stock can do this in five minutes. If the call is always "tomorrow", treat that as your answer.
3. Pay Only To A Company Account In The Licensed Name
This is the single most important rule. Do not pay a deposit to a personal account, to a different company name, or to a third country "for convenience". If the beneficiary name does not match the business licence, stop.
4. Get The Specification In Writing, Line By Line
Drive side, engine model and power, gearbox, axle model and ratio.
Body dimensions and plate thickness, hydraulic cylinder specification.
Tyres, spare wheel, tool kit, air conditioning, paint colour.
Lead time, trade term, port, and what exactly the price includes.
5. Use A Third-Party Inspection Before The Balance
Book SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek yourself, and make the report a condition of the balance payment. It costs far less than the difference between the truck you ordered and the truck that arrives.
6. Red Flags Worth Walking Away From
Pressure for 100 percent prepayment, or a "discount" that expires today.
A price far below every other quote for the same specification.
Refusal to video-call the yard, or refusal to give the business licence.
Beneficiary account in a personal name or in an unrelated country.
A bill of lading you have not seen before the balance is demanded.
What You Should Expect From Us
We will give you the licence details, do a live yard walk-through on video, quote a line-by-line specification, accept third-party inspection, and take payment to a company account under our registered name. If a supplier will not do all five, you are not buying a truck — you are buying a story.
